My books are published by Bethany House Publishers and Thomas Nelson, two well-known names in the CBA (Christian Booksellers Association) industry. So, in the sense that the stories are written by a Christian (or, if you prefer, a Christ-follower), and published by a Christian publisher, yes, I suppose my books are "religious fiction."
My faith is an integral part of who I am, and so the worlds of my books naturally reflect that. But I don't write stories that are explicitly evangelical. If you're looking for those, there are many fine authors who write such works, and I'm proud to be stocked beside them.
Those just aren't the kinds of stories that compel my own writing.
So, if you find yourself hesitant to read "religious fiction," I'll make a deal with you: if you read any of my books and feel I've preached at you, I'll buy it back from you.
I like to call my work "Noir Bizarre," which is exactly what the name suggests: works that mix elements of crime and mystery with the fantastic or supernatural.
