When Candace MacHugh hears her dead father's voice whispering to her from the shadows, she joins a giant organization that shares the secrets of the dead with our world. But soon she's sucked into a shadowy conspiracy tying together murders, tragedies, living shadows...and spontaneous human combustion. Is her father really dead? Is she really communicating with departed spirits? And why? If she can't find the answers in time, thousands of people may go up in flames--with her life the first at stake.

The Dead Whisper on:shadow spiders and other nasties

I just finished the book last night. The idea of spiders is bad enough but shadow spiders gave me a bad feeling. Not to mention things that chitter and skitter around you. You know its never good when you hear chittering sounds and skitter noises.
Shadow spiders that you feel on you even when you have clothes on, is really not good.
I liked the book, I'm never too crazy about a women heroine, I have no idea why.
But Canada is likable enough, she gets the job done, but I still like Jude better.
When she said" do you mean a golem is like that thing in The Hobbit", I was really creeped out. We watched the triolgy of Lord of the Rings last spring, we being my nine year old grand daughter and me. That golem like creature that creeps around on four limbs, is white, naked and has the veins popping out and is always says, "precious, my precious" when referring to the ring was so nasty and scary that to this day, my grand daughter uses it to scare me. She will come up to me, hold her sneaky little hand out, curl up the fingers , put it in front of my face and in the exact voice, say" Precious". She and I share in the same movies and types of books.
I have a question on the book, what are head frames? I already have your thrid book but since the fourth is not out yet, will hold off on reading it yet so I have something to look forward to. Keep writing, only try to do it faster.

Hi, Pat - Head frames are

Hi, Pat - Head frames are essentially the structures that act as the "elevator" for ore that's mined below ground and then carried to the surface. They look something like an oil derrick; here's a photo.
